ABC News Anchor John Quiñones presents “A 20/20 Vision on Hispanic America”

April 20, 2015 @ 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

John Quiñones, veteran broadcast news anchor and Emmy Award winning journalist, will present “A 20/20 Vision on Hispanic America” Monday, April 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the Student Union and Recreation Center (SURC) Ballroom. Quinones’ speech will kick off César Chávez/Dolores Huerta Week at CWU, which recognizes the historic struggles of Latin Americans and the history of the United Farm Workers Movement. This event is free and open to the public.

Quiñones’ presentation will reflect on his formative years as the child of migrant farm workers and the obstacles he had to overcome to pursue an education and career. Using his own story as an example of opportunity, he will share with attendees his vision and hopes for the Hispanic culture in the United States today.

Before joining ABC News in 1982, Quiñones reported for WBBM-TV in Chicago where he won two Emmy Awards for his work reporting on the struggles of illegal immigrants from Mexico. Since joining the ABC family, his work has included “Primetime,” “Burning Questions,” “20/20” and “What Would You Do?” His reporting at ABC has earned Quiñones several awards, including seven more Emmys, and has included highlights that have kept him at the top tier of broadcast journalism.
