Construction Safety Day coming May 6 to Puyallup

Construction work is historically one of the most hazardous industries in Washington state each year, accounting for 15 work-related deaths in 2014, as well
as many injuries. In the first three months of 2015, three construction workers died, all from falls.

Protecting workers from falls and other construction-related hazards is the goal of the 8th Annual Construction Safety Day, happening Wednesday, May 6, 2015,
at the Washington State Events Center in Puyallup.

The one-day training offers construction employers, supervisors and workers the opportunity to get safety training for industry-specific

This year’s event goes from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Americraft ShowPlex Exhibition & Conference Center, 110 9th Avenue
SW, Puyallup, 98371.

Pre-registration is $60 by May 1, or $70 at the door. Currently enrolled students may attend for $25. Visit <> to register online and

Construction Safety Day is co-sponsored by the
Governor’s Industrial Safety and Health Advisory Board <>
and the Department of Labor & Industries <> to promote safety in the
construction industry.

Presentations on numerous topics are planned, including ladder safety, using smart phones for safety, active shooter response training, and
an exhibit hall with educational booths, product displays and demonstrations.
