CWU Central Communication Agency helps Ellensburg businesses attract new customers

Ellensburg’s downtown businesses areinvited to experience a student life seminar about expanding their target audience withinthe community on December 10 at 6 p.m. at the Gallery One Visual Arts Center 408 NPearl.The presentation organized by the Ellensburg Downtown Association (EDA) and theCentral Communication Agency (CCA) will feature tactics and incentives for businessesto increase engagement with the Central Washington University (CWU) studentpopulation.”We are really excited about this opportunity” said Ellensburg Downtown AssociationDirector Carolyn Honeycutt. “It’s a great way for the university and downtown toconnect on a new level.”Every business that attends will learn about the characteristics of CWU student life aswell as how to gain student loyalty and interaction. For example businesses will learnabout the average student’s calendar and interests as well as ways to build relationshipswith them.The CCA has been working with the EDA since 2012 in an attempt to bridge the gapbetween CWU students and off-campus businesses. After conducting research on bothpopulations the CCA developed a strategy to bring the two entities closer together.”If our students knew what the downtown corridor truly had to offer they wouldunderstand the uniqueness of downtown businesses in addition to what the campus has tooffer” said CCA Advisor Liz Kerns. “They are a wonderful complement to one another.”- MORE -With participation by both the businesses and CWU students the Ellensburg communitywill hopefully see an economic boost downtown. The goal is to not only increaserevenue but also create a wider sense of community engagement.About the EDAThe Ellensburg Downtown Association is a local nonprofit working to preserve andrevitalize Ellensburg’s historic Downtown using the Nation Main Street Center’s 4-PointApproach
