The Distinguished Young Women (DYW) of Ellensburg scholarship program was postponed this year due to COVID-19, but the board is now happy to report that there will be DYW this summer. With the challenges of schools closing and other issues associated with the pandemic, the board feels still being able to have a program that teaches life skills and is an opportunity for girls to earn scholarships is very important.
During the one month program beginning June 24, girls will learn interviewing and public speaking skills, work on a fitness routine and create a talent presentation. The final event at which scholarships are awarded will be Saturday, July 25 at 7 PM. Public health safety recommendations will be followed in terms of whether practices and the final event are virtual or in person. This program is open to all girls who are juniors in Kittitas County.
There will be an informational Zoom meeting for interested girls and their parents Tuesday, June 16 at 6:30 PM.
