International Overdose Awareness event to honor loved ones and share resources.
KITTITAS COUNTY – International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) – held on August
31 every year – is the world’s largest annual campaign to end overdose, remember
without stigma those that have died and acknowledge the grief of family and friends
left behind.
There will be a free, public event held on Wednesday, Aug. 28 at Hal Holmes
community center in Ellensburg from 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. This is an opportunity for
people to publicly mourn loved ones in a safe environment and know they are
supported and valued. Please drop in anytime, between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to
hear guest speakers, learn about local resources and harm reduction activities around
overdose prevention. The public is also invited to walk in the Rodeo parade on
Saturday, Aug. 31 to help raise awareness of overdose.
