The CWU Lion Rock Visiting Writers Series continues this month, welcoming poet and literary advocate Allison Joseph Tuesday, May 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Student Union and Recreation Center (SURC) Theatre. In addition, everyone is invited to a Craft Talk with Joseph earlier that day at 3 p.m. in Black Hall room 151. This event is free and open to the public and is presented in conjunction with CWU’s First Amendment Festival.
An associate professor of English at Southern Illinois University and author of seven published collections of poetry, Joseph co-founded the literary journal “Crab Orchard Review” and the Young Writers Workshop, a co-ed residential summer program for teen writers. She is also the moderator of the Creative Writers Opportunities List, a list-serve that provides publication and submission information to writers of poetry, fiction and nonfiction. In March of 2012, she was awarded the George Garrett Award for Outstanding Community Service in Literature from the Association of Writers and Writing Programs.
