In an effort to reach out to the community and share their cultural heritage, Poly Central will host PolyFest 2015 Thursday, May 28 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Student Union and Recreation Center (SURC) Ballroom. PolyFest is a cultural dance tour of the Polynesian Islands and will feature a choreographed dance exhibition by CWU students highlighting the heritage of the Polynesian cultures. Dances from Hawaii, Fiji, Samoa, New Zealand, Tonga and Tahiti will be featured in this high-energy celebration of Island culture and history. This event is free and open to the public.
Joining Poly Central for the festivities will be NIU Roots, a Seattle-based Polynesian dance group. The collaboration offers the local Islander communities a chance to come together and share their cultural roots with the CWU and Ellensburg communities in a grand presentation. Don’t miss out on an evening of drums, dance and cultural expression as PolyFest 2015 brings the island life to CWU.
