Project Appleseed Comes to Yakima

Moxee Washington: October 2012 – Anyone who wants to learn traditionalrifle marksmanship and the role it played in America’s founding will wantto register for an upcoming Project Appleseed event. Project Appleseedis dedicated to bringing Americans closer to their heritage and passingon the tradition of rifle marksmanship in a fun safe setting.Project Appleseed events are a lot of fun for the entire family!They offer safe enjoyable low-cost hands-on activities that require nospecial rifles or equipment. Youth learn safe firearm handling and thefundamentals of rifle marksmanship while adults improve and refine theirmarksmanship skills. The event ends in what seems to be only minutesbut the memories made last for a lifetime.Participants will learn how to shoot rifles from practical field positionssuch as the prone sitting and standing positions. They will learn thetechniques that will improve their accuracy so they can place 10 roundsin a postage stamp sized target posted at 25 yards without using extrasupport such as a bench or sandbags. Participants will also learn howcivilian marksmanship played a pivotal role in the founding of our nation.Project Appleseed welcomes attendance by all individuals regardless ofexperience level political affiliation gender or religion. Instructorshave received specific training through an Adaptive Appleseed programto accommodate individuals with disabilities.The upcoming Project Appleseed event in Yakima will be held at theSun Valley Shooting Park on 1452 Suntargets Road in Moxee Washington.The event will be held October 20-21 2012 and it begins at 8:30 in themorning and ends at 5:00 in the afternoon.Preregistration fees are very affordable: FREE for Active Duty MilitaryGuard and Reserve; FREE for peace officers elected officials andindividuals with disabilities; $5.00 for youth (under 21); $10.00 forwomen; and $70.00 for all others.
