Rock climbers give thanks for Cranksgiving

October 24, 2014 @ 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Now in its sixth year, Cranksgiving, the annual bouldering competition at CWU, invites rock climbers of all skill levels to participate in the competition at the Climbing Wall Friday, Oct. 24. There will be two sessions at this year’s competition: one from 5 to 7 p.m. for the public, and one from 7 to 9 p.m. for CWU students only. This is the first year that the public has been invited to participate in Cranksgiving. Adults and children, ages six years and older who must be accompanied by an adult, are invited to attend, which makes this a great event for families to enjoy. For CWU students, Cranksgiving is a chance to show off rock climbing skills, or get involved with the sport for the first time. Participants of all skill levels are welcome, and Climbing Wall staff will be on hand to guide and assist competitors as they take on the Wall, one of CWU’s most admired features.

Pre-registration is $25 for CWU students, $30 for the general public and due Friday, Oct. 17. Registration is $35 after Friday and will be accepted up until the morning of the event. Everyone is encouraged to pre-register to be guaranteed an event t-shirt. Registration materials are available at Outdoor Pursuits & Rentals (OPR), located in the far east corner of the Student Union and Recreation Center (SURC), by phone at 509-963-3537 or email at outdoorpursuits@cwu.edu.

This event is sponsored by Outdoor Pursuits and Rentals. Persons of disability may make arrangements for reasonable accommodation by calling 509-963-3537 or by e-mailing DS@cwu.edu.
