To support victims of abuse, walkers and runners of all skill level are encouraged to participate in
the Route to Hope 5K Saturday, April 5. The CWU Wellness Center and
University Recreation will donate 100% of all proceeds from the 5k to
Ellensburg Abuse Support and Prevention Education Now (ASPEN), a
non-profit program of Central Washington Comprehensive Mental Health
that provides confidential services and aid to victims of abuse, sexual
assault and other forms of oppression. Through participants’
generosity, over the last two years the Route to Hope 5K has raised over
$2,600 for ASPEN.
Check in begins at 8 a.m. and the race will take off at 9:30 a.m. from
the CWU Welcome Center, located on the corner of University Way and
Pearl Street. Participants can pre-register at the CWU Wellness Center
in the Student Union and Recreation Center (SURC) room 139 or by calling
509-963-3213. Registration fees are $15 for CWU students and $20 for
general admission. Those registered before April 2 will be guaranteed a
