Stop by and Learn about the Health of our Community!

February 15, 2018 @ 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

The Community Health Assessment (CHA) process is near completion and the Kittitas County Health Network and the Kittitas County Public Health Department (KCPHD) want to share the information with the community.

There will be two open house events; one event will be in Ellensburg on Thursday, February 15, from 4 to 6pm at the Hal Holmes Community Center and the other event will be in Cle Elum on Wednesday, February 21, from 4:30 to 6:30 pm at the Putnam Centennial

Any one is welcome to attend the events!  Participants will have an opportunity to walk around and view information about the health of our community, which includes the resulting information

from the four major assessments that were completed:

Community Health Assessment – data about the health of the community that includes environmental health, behavioral risk factors, and communicable disease information.

Forces of Change Assessment – an evaluation of the events, factors and trends that shape the health of our county.

Community Themes and Strengths Assessment –survey results from the public about the health and quality of life in Kittitas County.

Local Public Health System Assessment -an evaluation of how well we work together as a public health system.

Visitors at the event will also have an opportunity to ask questions of staff and volunteers about the information as well as provide feedback.  “We want the public to have a chance to look at everything our partners have done to complete this huge process

as well as get thoughts and reactions form the people who live in our community,” asserts Amy Fuller, KCPHD Assessment Coordinator.

The CHA is an assessment of the county’s health, which occurs every five years, with the most recent CHA process starting in June of this year.  The Community Health Assessment is a collaborative process with over twenty partners from various agencies participating.

The process is collaborative as well as comprehensive, with four assessments falling under the CHA process: Community Themes and Strengths Assessment, Local Public Health System Assessment, Community Health Status Assessment, and Forces of Change Assessment.

For each assessment area, committees have been formed and are working to compile information about what affects the health of Kittitas County.
