The CWU Music department is proud to present The Gothard Sisters in concert, who will be back at CWU by popular demand. This dynamic trio of sisters Greta, Willow and Solana will perform a variety of traditional Irish folk music, fiddle tunes and holiday themed music, as well as incorporating world-class Irish dance on Friday, Dec 5 at 7 p.m. at the Jerilyn S. McIntyre Music Building Concert Hall. Tickets are $5 for CWU students and $10 for general admission and are available at cwu.edu/tickets.
The Gothard Sisters have performed nationally at Celtic and folk music festivals, community concerts, state and county fairs, halftime shows, colleges and concert series. The sisters are all classically trained violinists, and play a variety of other instruments including electric guitar, bodhran, mandolin, cajon and pennywhistle. They are also champion Irish step dancers, having competed in Ireland and the U.K. multiple times at the World Championships of Irish Dance. In 2011, their album “Story Girl” won Album of the Year from Celtic Radio, and most recently, the trio was honored as “Best New Irish Group” at the Irish Music Awards.
