THORP, WASHINGTON (February 10, 2015) – The Thorp Mill Historical Society will hold its first annual Thorp Mill Antiques Market and Appraisals on Saturday and Sunday August 8-9, 2015. The only combination antiques market and appraisal event in central Washington, the show will feature dozens of exhibitors of quality antiques, collectibles, decorative arts, and crafts.
“The event will be fun for families, antique collectors and enthusiasts as well as the general public,” says Dan Leavitt, the president of the Thorp Mill board of directors. “We expect to attract visitors and dealers from across the Pacific Northwest and build the Thorp Mill Antiques Market into the premier antiques-themed event in central Washington. This year’s much-anticipated inaugural market and appraisal fair will be an exciting time, and it is sure to become a regular offering in Kittitas County’s event schedule. We are particularly appreciative of the support for this event that we have received from the Kittitas County Commissioners through their grant of marketing funding through the Lodging Tax Fund. The Chamber of Commerce and the Thorp School District have both been highly supportive. ”
The event will be held in the gymnasium at the Thorp School where dealers will offer a variety of antique wares and vintage items. Visitors can look forward to shopping for antiques, as well as having their own heirlooms appraised by expert appraisers and dealers. Appraisals will be conducted both days from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. $5 per item. Our appraiser is Ginnie Toney with Flippers Antiques of Yakima. Please note, your appraisals will not be valid for insurance purposes. Food and refreshments will be available from participating vendors throughout the day. The event is rain or shine, and handicapped parking will be available. The Mill will also be open on schedule for tours across the weekend.
There are still spaces available for additional vendors at no charge. Loading and unloading help will also be available for vendor’s set up and take down. Full vendor information can be found at www.thorp.org.
Proceeds from the event will support events and programs at the Thorp Mill Historical Society and museum, a 501c3-status non-profit organization that preserves and promotes Thorp and Upper Kittitas County history and culture.
