The Museum of Culture and Environment invites you to visit two new exhibits this fall. Both are on view through December 4.

ʔax̌ʷmn ̓ – “To Brush the Water” celebrates the distinctive design and aesthetics of Indigenous technologies, including a distinctive canoe type, from the Columbia Plateau. This exhibit is curated by Dr. Shawn Brigman (an enrolled member of the Spokane Tribe of Indians and descendant of the snʕáyckst and tk’emlúps te secwepemc). Visitors will learn about Shawn’s cultural recovery work while celebrating the arts and technologies of his ancestors.

Photographs of everyday life from small eastern Washington towns are featured in You’re in Wheat Country, along with excerpts from conversations with residents from Washtucna, Kahlotus, Lind, Connell, and Ritzville.  Curated by photographer Skip Smith, this exhibit invites visitors to encounter the subtle beauty and stark landscapes of eastern Washington’s arid wheat country.

The CWU Museum of Culture & Environment is open from Wednesday to Saturday, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM and is located in Dean Hall (1200 Wildcat Way) on the CWU campus.  Parking is free on the CWU campus on Saturdays.  For more information, museum@cwu.edu
