Trail Talk: Managing Recreation Impacts in a Booming Metro Area

July 20, 2024 @ 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM

Join us for an unforgettable morning amidst the breathtaking scenery of the Middle Fork Snoqualmie River Valley, nestled in the heart of the Mountains to Sound Greenway National Heritage Area. Mount Baker Snoqualmie National Forest staff alongside Tor Bell from the Greenway Trust will lead you along this gently meandering half-mile loop trail with beautiful views of the congressionally designated Wild and Scenic Middle Fork Snoqualmie River and Garfield Mountain. During the hike, participants will get an insiders’ look at both the joys and challenges of managing public lands and popular recreation trails in such a booming area. Your hike leaders will dig into important topics such accessibility, equitable access, overcrowding, maintenance challenges, and more. You’re sure to leave with a deeper understanding of recreation management and a greater appreciation for all that goes into caring for your favorite places. If you’re an avid trail user who loves to be in the know – this event is for you!
