Beginning July 2023 in Washington State, workers began contributing to the WA Cares Fund. Washington state’s groundbreaking long-term care program has workers paying during their employment years to ensure coverage for future care needs. Come to this informative presentation to learn about the program’s fundamentals, including eligibility requirements, coverage benefits, and the process for accessing services when needed.

Seven in 10 of us will need long-term care for accidents, illness, or support for aging. Their family members may need to leave the workforce or reduce working hours to become a caregiver. “Understanding long-term care options is crucial for all Washingtonians,” says Canup, who brings extensive experience in community healthcare management to her role. “This presentation will help community members understand how WA Cares serves as a vital safety net for future long-term care needs.”

Canup, a long-time Kittitas County resident, has a background including serving as the Program Manager for Hearts and Hands of Kittitas County and Executive Director for Open Door Health Clinic, positions that have given her deep insight into community healthcare needs.

Upper Kittitas County Senior Center is pleased to feature Caitie Canup, Programs Specialist at Southeast Aging and Long-Term Care, who will provide a comprehensive overview of the WA Cares program. The event will take place on December 17th from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Senior Center, located at 719 E. Third St. in Cle Elum.

The presentation is open to the public and will include time for questions and discussion. Community members of all ages are encouraged to attend this important informational session about a program that affects working Washingtonians.
