Yakima Valley Community College celebrates National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). Held each October and coordinated by the Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy, NDEAM is a national campaign that raises awareness about disability employment issues and celebrates the contributions of America’s workers with disabilities. In support of NDEAM’s efforts, YVCC will host the 2nd Annual Disability Awareness Extravaganza on October 15, 2014 from 11:30-1:00pm in the Hopf Union Building.
The event will include representatives from local agencies such as the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, the Department of Services for the Blind, Office of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and more. Participants will be able to experience hands-on activities that demonstrate the feeling of various disabilities. The event is sponsored by YVCC’s Disability Support Services and is designed to build community through education.
