DESCRIPTION:Upper Kittitas County Senior Center hosts the next installment of Free Community Talks featuring foot care specialist Shyla Thelen\, RN. The event will take place on Tuesday\, June 17th from 4:00 to 5:00 PM at the UKC Senior Center located at 719 E. Third St. in Cle Elum. \nAs seniors age\, feet undergo natural changes that make choosing proper footwear essential. Shoes you once loved might cause foot pain as you get older. \nThelen\, a registered nurse specializing in foot care\, will provide expert guidance on healthy shoe choices. Comfort\, support\, and proper fit are the key factors to look for. The right shoes can help prevent foot pain\, improve posture\, increase mobility\, help with balance\, and reduce the risk of injury. \nWe’ll have a selection of suggested shoes to look at and discuss\, or you can bring your own shoes of choice to review with Shyla. \nThis educational session offers community members of all ages an opportunity to address their foot health concerns in a supportive environment. Participants are encouraged to bring questions for the Q&A portion of the talk. \nIn addition\, through a grant from Kittitas County\, Thelen comes once a month to the Center to provide foot care to the community. \nThe Free Community Talks series aims to provide access to all ages of residents of Upper Kittitas County and surrounding areas on health and wellness\, cultural and educational information. The series of events are open to the public and no registration is required.
