TAKE NOTE:Message from KCFD #6 on this post: Kittitas County Fire Protection District #6All District 6 units are back in district; we want to thank those citizens who were outside of ST61 this morning, who frantically got out of our way when we were trying to get to the station in our vehicles and as Engine 611 left with lights and sirens. We didnt realize state was routing vehicles up Atlantic and down 1st street! But state employees realized what was happening and helped us get to this fire. And we are EXTREMELY thankful they are helping with our snow loads. Also keep in mind, that fire scenes are dynamic, and that information constantly changes, especially with so many agencies involved. RFD and other agencies are still on scene; RFD will release information as needed (check out their page below).UPDATED: Roslyn Fire would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the family of a Roslyn resident who lost her life in this mornings fire. The body of a woman in her 70's was recovered at the scene this afternoon - we withheld this news pending notification of the family. The family has requested privacy and we will not be releasing any additional details - we ask that the public refrain from speculation. We would like to extend our thanks to our partner agencies who provided critical mutual aid support for this incident including: Kittitas County Fire Protection District #6, Kittitas Fire District 7, Upper County Firefighters and Paramedics IAFF Local 4880, Fire District 3, Kittitas County Fire Marshal, Kittitas County Sheriff, Cle Elum/Roslyn/South Cle Elum Police Department, Roslyn Public Works, Cle Elum Volunteer Fire Department, Puget Sound Energy, and Kittitas County Search & Rescue. We would also like to thank Advantage Dirt for their use of their heavy equipment. We couldn’t have gotten things done without them! Also, Stella’s, Basecamp Books and Bites, and Medic One for the food and coffee. Initial reports and indications point to some type of propane explosion as the cause of the fire but that is under investigation by the Kittitas County Fire Marshal. Normally Roslyn Fire does not comment on potential causes of fire however, given the extenuating weather circumstances that may have contributed to this event, residents are encouraged to check their gas lines and ensure that they are protected from large amounts of falling snow. This is the third fire that Roslyn has responded to in the past week related to snow loads and gas lines. Snow can scrub the odorant from gas and because propane sinks it can move under snow and enter a home with no odor. Residents are encouraged to ensure they have working carbon monoxide alarms in their homes and basements. At 0730 this morning (1/13/22) Roslyn Fire was paged for an explosion and structure fire in the 200 Block of W. Montana Avenue. This is an active scene. Please avoid the area. As of 10:30am the casue of the fire, and the status of the homeowners, is under investigation. Please refrain from speculating until an investigation is complete and the whereabouts of the owners are conclusively determined. ... See MoreSee Less
