OLYMPIA — An in-depth book highlighting individuals featured in Legacy Washington’s exhibit, Ahead of the Curve: Washington Women Lead the Way, was celebrated with a public reception earlier this month in Olympia.

There were several special guests in attendance, including former Governor Chris Gregoire, former Chief Justice Mary Fairhurst, Chief Justice Elect Debra Stephens, historian Stephanie Coontz, engineer Linea Laird, and TV newscaster Lori Matsukawa. Books are available for purchase on the Secretary of State website and all proceeds from book sales support Legacy Washington.

Giving prominence to both historical and contemporary women, Ahead of the Curve highlights the pioneering spirit of women who have had big impacts on Washington state, the nation, and beyond. Leading up to the 2020 centennial of women’s suffrage, the panoramic exhibit panels in the lobby of the Office of the Secretary of State will be on display through the summer.
