The following events and activities are impacted by Coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns

IMPORTANT UPDATE (3/13/20) – Governor Inslee has expanded the prohibition of gatherings of over 250 people and school closures to the entire state of Washington, including Kittitas County. We will continue to update this escalated list, but be advised that any event falling into the categories of the proclamation will be cancelled or postponed. CLE ELUM:

  • The front office of the NKC Tribune and Tribune Office Supply closed to the public as of Tuesday, March 17, 2020, until further notice. We will continue to work behind the scenes to produce the printed Tribune, provide online updates to the Coronavirus pandemic, producing ads, classifieds and print job work.   • Washington State Horse Park in Cle Elum – Delayed Opening – the Horse Park Authority board decided to delay Park opening from April 1st to April 15th. The board will reassess the situation on March 31st to see if further delay beyond April 15th is warranted. They will be working to set up protocols and assemble cleaning materials to have ready when they do reopen.
  • Lower Kittitas County District Court – has suspended various court rules, changed infraction hearings to only written statements and cancelled jury trials for the rest of March and all of April.  All persons summoned for jury duty on March 26 and April 9 and 23 do not need to call or come to Lower Kittitas County District Court, per emergency order 2020-01. The court office will be closed to the public until further notice.
  • The City of Cle Elum has cancelled the regular Council meeting for Monday March 23, 2020. The next meeting is currently scheduled for Monday April 13, 2020 at 6:00 pm.
  • The Cle Elum City Hall public lobby hours will be 10 am to 2 pm daily until further notice. Staff will be available by telephone at 509-674-2262, from 9 am until 4:30 pm Monday through Thursday, and from 7 am until 3:30 pm on Fridays. Check payments may be placed in the drop box located outside the City Hall entrance.
  • Cle Elum-Roslyn School District will be closed beginning Tuesday, March 17 through (at least) Friday, April 24, or until further notice. This closure includes cancelation of ALL activities, athletics, and co-curricular events. Attendance on Monday, March 16th is strongly encouraged as we will be providing our students with additional information (such as education learning plans) to bring home to families.
  • UKC Senior Center (at Putnam Centennial Center) – closed for breakfast and dine-in lunch starting ,tomorrow, Monday, March 16th, and will reopen in April. They will deliver lunches in the Cle Elum area, or people can pick up lunch to-go. Call 509-674-7530 to make arrangements.
  • Cle Elum Fire Department Egg Hunt – cancelled
  • Annual Suncadia Fund for Community Enhancement Easter Egg Hunt – cancelled
  • Annual Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt – cancelled
  • Bingo at the UKC Senior Center is cancelled through April 1.
  • UKC Dollars for Scholars “Poker chips for Scholarships” fundraiser cancelled – originally scheduled for Mar. 22, 2020 at the Cle Elum Eagles club. Ticket buyers are encouraged to consider their purchase price as a donation to the cause.   • Cle Elum Downtown Association’s Pot O’ Gold passport promotion postponed – CEDA reassures all who have started passports that stamps already received will be honored when the promotion starts back up when all the businesses are back up and running at a future date.   • Cle Elum Eagles – closed until further notice per Governor Inslee’s orders. Check their website and Facebook page for updates.
  • Spring Bazaar at the Cle Elum Eagles postponed – originally scheduled for April 4, 2020 – watch for rescheduling updates
  • Carpenter Memorial Library is closed until further notice. They will be extending due dates and waiving all fines for overdue materials and their digital library (ebooks and audiobooks downloaded directly to your devices with your library card) will continue to be available for patrons to enjoy from home.   • Swauk-Teanaway Grange Scholarship Fundraiser Dinner cancelled – originally scheduled for April 18. They will contact ticket buyers regarding refunds and will ask if they would consider the ticket price as a donation in lieu of refund. Anyone who has not yet purchased tickets but would like to make a donation to their scholarship to assist graduating seniors, can send a check for any amount to the Swauk-Teanaway Grange, P. O. Box 401, Cle Elum, WA 98922.
  • Carpenter House Museum – temporarily closed until further notice
  • Cascade Field and Stream Club RSO Training postponed – originally scheduled for Mar. 29, 2020 has been postponed. Watch for rescheduling updates.
  • Ice Cream Social Youth Services of Kittitas County – Tuesday, March 17: The 3-5 p.m. scheduled for the Warrior’s Den in Cle Elum has been postponed. Watch calendar for updates.
  • 33rd Annual Sons & Daughters of Italy Spaghetti Feed – Saturday, March 21 is cancelled. Watch for rescheduling on a future date.
  • Guest Speaker Appearance – Pete Horish’s presentation will not be offered during the Heritage Club Meeting on March 14, 2020, however the meeting at the Eagles Club at noon will be held as scheduled
  • Community Volleyball – Held most Friday evenings in the school gym will be cancelled until at least the end of April (as the school is closed). Watch for updates in May.
  • Operation First Response Quilters – Held every Thursday in Cle Elum has been cancelled until at least the end of April. Watch for updates in May.
  • Runner Stumbles Fun Run – The Cle Elum Kiwanis Runner Stumbles Fun Run that was previously scheduled for Sunday, July 5 has been cancelled.
  • Kiwanis Fishing Derby – The Cle Cle Elum Kiwanis Fishing Derby that was previously scheduled for Sunday, July 5 has been cancelled.
  • Cle Elum Eagles Auxiliary – The Cle Elum Eagles Auxiliary will be suspending Auxiliary Meetings (normally the 2nd & 4th Tuesday of the month) until further notice. This is due to the Governor’s amended Phase 3 order that meetings must be 10 people or less. The club will notify members through email and social media when this decision is reversed and meetings can resume.
  • Swauk-Teanaway Grange – The Grange has cancelled all remaining 2020 events including the Hunters Breakfast, Christmas Bazaar, and Christmas Dinner.

SOUTH CLE ELUM:

  • South Cle Elum Town Hall Closed / Council Meetings cancelled until further notice – per State of Emergency. Call 509-674-4322 or email Townofsouthcleelum@gmail.com

    RONALD:

    • Ronald Community Club’s Heritage Festival cancelled (the event was previously scheduled for July 4.)

ROSLYN:

  • Roslyn City Council meetings cancelled through the end of March, per Mayor Brent Hals, beginning with the one scheduled for Tuesday, March 24.
  • ARRF Doggy Easter Egg Hunt cancelled – originally scheduled for Saturday, April 4, 2020. Those wishing to donate to offset this fundraiser may do so at https://www.arrfanimalrescue.org/donate.html
  • Self-Service Grooming Station at ARRF Animal Rescue is closed. Those who have an appointment with the on-site groomer (Shampooch) are asked to wait in their car for the groomer to come out and take their dogs in for them. Anyone who is feeling ill is asked to reschedule their appointments for a later date.
  • Roslyn Public Library Closed – as of Monday, March 18, 2020, until further notice.
  • Roslyn Library Book Sale – postponed until a future date, watch the calendar for updates
  • 32nd Annual Spittoon Boat Race – (originally scheduled for 3/14/20) cancelled, possible reschedule at a future date, watch calendar for updates
  • Roslyn Library’s Seussapalooza – (originally scheduled for April 18) has been postponed until late spring or early summer. Please watch for updates in the NKC Tribune or call the library at 509-649-3420.
  • Roslyn Farmers Market (2020 Season) – The Roslyn Farmer’s Market Board has made the decision to cancel the market for the 2020 season. They are working on finding local ways to support vendors through the website and local partnerships.
  • Roslyn  Cemetery Kiosk Dedication Ceremony – The Roslyn Cemetery Kiosk Dedication Ceremony previously scheduled for May 23, 2020 has been postponed. The Dedication Ceremony for the new Italian Monument in the Cemetery is also postponed. They were going to tie those two events together and still are planning to have them together.
  • Croatian Picnic – The Croatian Picnic, hosted by the Roslyn Ronald Cle Elum Heritage Club, that was previously scheduled for July 18, 2020 has been cancelled. Watch for next year’s event in July 2021.

EASTON:

  • Easton School District is closed beginning March 16, 2020 and will remain closed through April 24th . Staff at Easton School will be making contact this week with families to discuss ways that they can provide support to students and their families. THORP:

  • Thorp Fire Station Egg Hunt – cancelled
  • Thorp Mill 2020 DINNER/ AUCTION CANCELED – Originally scheduled for May 30, 2020 – due to ongoing uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, they are cancelling this year’s dinner/auction. See the letter from the organization’s president and further information at https://www.thorp.org/

ELLENSBURG:

  • ELLENSBURG CITY FACILITIES CLOSED, PROGRAMS CANCELED – as of 3/13/20 until further notice – the Adult Activity Center, Ellensburg Public Library, Ellensburg Recreation and Racquet Center, Hal Holmes Community Center, Kittitas Valley Memorial Pool and Fitness Center, and the Stan Bassett Youth Center. Youth and adult athletics as well as other programming is temporarily canceled. If people paid a fee for programming and the activity is canceled in its entirety, they will offer a full refund.
  • Kittitas County Office and departments closed to in-person customer services include Assessor, Auditor, Board of County Commissioners, Human Resources, Treasurer, Community Development Services (CDS), and Public Works and Public Health Dept.
  • Kittitas County Superior Court, Kittitas County Clerk’s Office and Lower District Court will be closed to the public until further notice.
  • All events at CWU have been canceled through 4/30, including: 4/2: Artist Talk and Reception: Amy Babinec; 4/30: 12th Annual Rock Against Rape
  • CWU 2020 Commencement ceremonies cancelled – (Ellensburg/Kent) including all associated activities and celebrations. CWU is working on an alternate plan to recognize the class of 2020. More information and FAQs are posted on the Commencement website at cwu.edu/commencement.
  • Kittitas Valley Event Center (fairgrounds) closed – 3/16/20 – effective immediately, all facilities and offices will be closed to the public until the temporary closure is officially ended. Inquiries can be emailed to EventCenter@co.kittitas.wa.us or called in at 509-962-7639 M-F, 8AM-12PM and 1PM to 5PM.
  • Guitar in the Gallery with Neil Caulkins for March cancelled – at Gallery One, originally scheduled for March 29, 2020. Possible reschedule, watch for updates
  • Kittitas County is canceling the Energy Code training scheduled for May 11th, 2020. WSU Energy Code Specialists will have an Energy Code update webinar available soon at http://www.energy.wsu.edu/BuildingEfficiency/EnergyCode.aspx they will re-schedule live training at a later date.
  • Kittitas County Youth Awards POSTPONED – new date: Monday, May 11, 2020, 6:30 p.m. at the Morgan Performing Arts Center, Ellensburg.
  • Central Washington Mule Deer Foundation Banquet – April, 10, 2020 in Ellensburg: This event has been cancelled.
  • 2020 Kittitas County Republican Party Lincoln Day Dinner – March 21, 2020 at CWU: This event will be rescheduled for a later date. Watch for updates.

  • Kittitas County Audubon March presentation cancelled
  • Jazz in the Valley (previously scheduled for July 24-26, 2020) has been cancelled.

  • Kittitas County Fair (previously scheduled for Labor Day Weekend) has been cancelled. The board is looking into virtual options for the 4-H livestock sale.

KITTITAS

  • The unveiling of Deputy Sheriff Ryan Thompson’s memorial in Kittitas, Thursday, March 19, has been postponed. Watch for updates to the rescheduled date and time.

KITTITAS COUNTY – MULTIPLE AREAS:

  • All state campgrounds across Washington closed – Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission (Parks), Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW), and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Campgrounds will remain closed through April 30. Day use areas and trails remain open. Avoid Washington’s ocean beaches. Continue to practice social distancing when recreating outdoors. See more details in full report here.

YAKIMA:

  • All SunDome and State Fair Park events are cancelled through the end of March. This will affect this weekend’s Central Washington Home Builder Show that was set to start March 13, 2020. The Central Washington State Fair Association will continue to monitor the developments and work with Yakima County officials.
  • Yakima Restaurant Week cancelled – originally scheduled for March 20th – 28th, 2020. “We may schedule it later or we will be ready for 2021!” For questions, call the Greater Yakima Chamber of Commerce at 509-248-2021
  • Legends Casino is closed. Status will be re-evaluated in April. Details here.
  • Evergreen Speedway – regularly scheduled NASCAR Orientation and Season Opening Practices scheduled for March 21st are canceled. Small private track rentals are still available for the near future following all mandated
    procedures. NASCAR has announced that every series, including weekly and touring series, are postponed until May 3rd across North America.The speedway is updating information on Facebook, and evergreenspeedway.com For additional information, call 360-805-6117.

OTHER AREAS OUTSIDE KITTITAS COUNTY:

  • The 2020 Washington State Spring Fair is Canceled – originally scheduled for April 16–19, 2020. For those who purchased tickets for the Spring Fair and/or Motorsport Mayhem events, you will be refunded. If you purchased by credit or debit card, will be processed automatically (allow 7–10 business days). If your card has been canceled since you purchased, or if you purchased with cash, email the Box Office at boxoffice@thefair.com for further instructions.
  • Grand Coulee Dam Visitor Center temporarily closed, tours delayed. Tours of the dam were set to begin April 1, 2020, but will be delayed until further notice. Water deliveries and powerplant operations will continue without interruption. Mission essential functions, such as security and law enforcement, will continue.   • Cascade Rail Foundation – Annual March Meet (held in Burien) – cancelled (possible rescheduling later in the year, watch their website for updates.)
  • Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife switches to online format for future public meetings due to COVID-19 recommendations. Details here.
  • The Department of Revenue will temporarily close its offices to the public starting March 18 to support the state’s efforts to fight the spread of the novel coronavirus. All of the in-person services provided at DOR offices are available online at dor.wa.gov Revenue’s call center staff are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. via live chat and phone. The Department expects to re-open public offices on April 1, but there is a possibility of extended closures.
