Kittitas County, WA -09/10/2014 – (announced after the 9/11/14 print issue had gone to press)
An error has been found in the Lodging Tax Grant Fund application released Monday on the County’s and various Cities’ websites. The error is contained within question nine of the application and pertains to applicants for projects/events which have not received lodging tax grant funds in the past. The County has issued a correction notice for all potential applicants to inform them of the error and to assure the correct information is provided.
Question nine in the application requests specific information regarding previous and future attendance and overnight lodging stays attributable to the event or project for which funding is being applied. However, as written, it may appear that only those events or projects which had received funding in the past must provide the information. The correction notice clarifies that the information is required by all applicants, regardless of whether or not funding from lodging taxes had been awarded previously.
“We definitely regret this mistake, but it is critical that all applicants provide this information as it is an important component of the rating criteria that is used to rank applications which will be considered for funding awards,” stated County Commissioner Paul Jewell. “The revised application was reviewed by several people from participating municipalities and it somehow still got overlooked. The correction notice clearly explains the discrepancy and the information applicants need to make sure they provide.” Applications for lodging tax fund grants are due October 3, 2014.
