Kittitas County, WA03/13/2017 – Last night saw an increase in the snow melt due to warmer weather and rain. Motorists are urged to use caution, especially at night.

We have several locations in the County where water is over the roadway and County Roads is working to post signs at these locations.  Most of these locations are north of town.  Inside the City of Ellensburg they are seeing flooding in the typical areas; west Ellensburg and also along Dolarway.

There are reports of both commercial and residential flooding Northwest of Ellensburg in the Reecer Creek / Dry Creek area and in West Ellensburg. No injuries have been reported.

Currently the following roads are closed:

  • The intersection of 5th and Railroad
  • Dolarway and Enterprise

Typically, the water has been rising until midnight or just after and then receding slightly throughout the morning, but last night the water reached a three day high.  County Roads has set up a sand bag filling station on the north side of the Fairgrounds by Western Village and Shady brook.

The Sheriff’s Office will continue to post updates through local media and on their Facebook page.
