Mohar Road has experienced significant settlement in the eastbound lane at MP 2.00. Monitoring over several weeks has suggested settlement between two to eight inches in areas. Assessments conducted the morning of February 13th 2018 suggested that the settlement was such that safety to the traveling public had been compromised.
Kittitas County Road Crews are removing sections of the settled asphalt pavement and will leave the roadway as a gravel surface for approximately 200 feet once complete. The work requires the road to be closed and is anticipated to be completed by 5:00 PM February 14th 2018.
Kittitas County Public Works will begin looking at options to mitigate the settlement in hopes of restoring the roadway to a paved condition during the summer of 2018. Please avoid the work area and use caution once the roadway is open as loose gravel and abrupt lane transitions are expected.
