KITTITAS – Kittitas County will host a press conference today May 4th, 2020, at 3:30 pm and will be available to view live online via Webex.

The Webex has a maximum capacity of 1000 attendees. The press conference will address the Kittitas County variance application that could allow the county to move from Phase 1 of the Phased Approach to Reopening Washington Plan to Phase 2 before other, more impacted counties.

The variance application could allow Kittitas County to reopen at a faster rate. Kittitas County is currently one of a small number of counties eligible to apply due to meeting certain checkmarks.

These checkmarks include population size and having no new COVID-19 cases in 21 days. The Kittitas County Public Health Department must prove to the state that we can move safely forward.

The remaining counties in the state who are not eligible to apply for the variance will start in Phase 1. They will be able to move into Phase 2 once they have met the required checkpoints.

Kittitas County Public Health Department (KCPHD), Kittitas County Board of County Commissioners and Kittitas Valley Healthcare will be participating in the press conference. Questions can be directed to Dr. Mark Larson’s Facebook Question and Answer videos or to Kasey Knuston, the KCPHD Public Information Officer.

Questions about your health should be directed to your local healthcare provider or you can call the Temporary COVID Clinic at KVH at 509-933-8850. For general COVID-19 questions, the Emergency Operation Center is at 509-933-8315 or 509-933-8305.
